deviantGALLERY 0.5(.2)

Sat Sep 24, 2005, 3:20 AM
deviantGALLERY is no longer down!

What happened?

For a few days, deviantGALLERY was unavailable for use, while it was re-configured for deviantART's new backend. Furthermore, it also needed updating to work with greasemonkey 0.5+. And additionally, I wanted to rewrite my own backend to make updates easier.

But it's fixed now.

You will be pleased to hear, however, that it is now back to it's original working order. And, thanks to some inspiration from =moeffju, it should no longer prompt you to update every week. Only when it's been updated.

Although, I haven't really tested this very thoroughly yet. Cough.

Updating Instructions

The script can be found in the same place as always.

Before you update: you will need to uninstall the previous version.
You can do this easily by opening your User Script Manager (Tools > Manage User Scripts...) then selecting "devGALLERY" and clicking "Uninstall". This will prevent any conflict between the two versions.

Note: This is not usually required for updating, but this is a special case.

Version 0.5.2

Version 0.5.2 is what you've all been waiting for - it has the added functionality of persistent personal settings!

So now you can configure deviantGALLERY to show 120 big thumbs, ordered alphabetically (or whatever), and it will do that automatically when you load a gallery.

(Cross one off the list :D)

Signature...., Signature...., what to put in the signature????.

Sounds like a lot of work. You could consider writing your own Firefox plug-in that helped people browse dA. With all the complexities you have, this might be better spent time.

Heh, maybe. :)
I've done the groundwork for this one already though, and it's helping me learn javascript too.

Besides, as I'm relying on dA to keep the backend that it relies on up, and as I've seen, they can and will pull the carpet out from under my feet as and when it pleases them, there's not too much point wasting my life starting over, I don't think! =p

It's coming along OK. Ish. :D

Heh, it's worth waiting for. :)

No dress code - no speed limit - just the euphoric sound of HARD HOUSE.
:icondoofsmack:
So, what happened to [link]? And how'd you find out about feed.xml? :O
:icondoofsmack:
Also, I just noticed your header image system. Nice.
:iconarphire:
It disappeared. $micahgoulart said they switched to XML to make it "accessible to everyone."
But only after I asked :)

I wonder who else is using it - pasties, possibly??
